Making Nami; Clima tact

Moi!

Kuten lupailin viimeksi, täältä tulee Clima Tact postaus. Sori, kun postailen näin kaksi kertaa putkeen cosplaysta, mutta Traconin jälkeen luvassa taas muitakin aiheita. Ja Namin teostahan olen puhut aiemmin näissä 1 2 3 postauksissa.

Like I promised last time, here comes the post about making the Clima tact. Sorry I’m posting about cosplay two times in a row but after Tracon there will be post about other stuff also. And I’ve talked about making Nami in these 1 2 3 posts.

Mainitsemisen arvoinen asia on, että tämä oli ensimmäisen isompi proppi, jonka tein koskaan. Isäni auttoi joissakin työvaiheissa (mm. hitsaus), mutta ensin piti keksiä mistä tämä keppi edes tehdään. Onneksi meidän autotallimme syvyyksistä löytää vähän mitä sattuu, kun isäni työskentelee autojen parissa (opettaa amiksessa autoalaa.)

I have to mention that this was the first time I ever did a prop this big. My dad helped me with few things (for example welding), but first I had to think of what I am going to be making the stick of. Luckily we have a garage full of useful stuff, because my dad works with cars.   

Ensiksi piti löytää varsi, johon saisi muttereita kieritettyä, jotta Clima tactin saisi osiin kuljetuksen helpottamiseksi. Iskä löysi alumiinitangon, jossa oli jengat.

First we had to find a stick that we could put nuts on, so that I could put the Clima tact in pieces. So my dad found an aluminium bar.

Tässä tehdään tangosta sopivan pituista. Lopputuloksen pituus on noin 150 cm:

Koska tässä versiossa Clima tactia on pallot, nekin piti keksiä jostain. Löysin verkkokohoiksi tarkoitetut styroksipallot motonetistä. Palloissa oli valmiiksi reiät. Muttereita käytettiin pitämään pallot paikallaan sekä mahdollistamaan osien erottaminen toisistaan. Puuduttavinta hommaa oli pyörittää mutteri juuri oikealle kohdalle tankoa jopa puolen metrin matkalta.

Because this version of Clima tact has balls, I had to think what I’m gonna do them of. I found Styrofoam balls meant for floating fishing nets. The balls had holes already in them. I used the nuts to hold the balls in place and to allow putting the stick in pieces. The most numbing part was to roll the nuts to the right place.

Alumiinitanko itsessään ei näytä kovin kauniilta maalattuna ja se olisi ollut turhan ohutkin, niin piti keksiä millä päällystän sen. Vanha kasteluletku oli tarkoitukseen juuri sopiva. Koska Clima tactini on tehty alumiinitangosta, styroksista, kasteluletkusta ja muutamasta mutterista se ei paina lähes mitään.

Because aluminum bar itself doesn't look very nice when painted and it would have been too thin, I had to figure out what to cover it with. Old hose was just too good for it. Because my Clima tact is made out of aluminium bar, Styrofoam, a hose and a few nuts it weighs pretty much nothing.

 Sitten oli jäljellä enää maalaus. Käytin siis samaa maalia kuin tämän cossin kenkien maaluussa, mutta vaalensin sitä valkoisella. Kasteluletku osoittautui haluttomaksi tulla maalatuksi, mutta sekin peittyi muutaman kerroksen jälkeen. Viimeinen juttu, mitä Clima tact tarvitsi, olivat mustat viivat pallojen sivuilla. Ne väritin ihan tussilla, koska sain siten tarkemman jäljen kuin maalilla.

Then I had to paint it. I used the same paint as in my shoes for this cosplay, but I mixed white paint with the blue. The hose turned out to be hard to cover with the paint but after few layers it worked. The last thing I did to the Clima tact was making the black lines on the balls sides. I drew them in with a marker because that way I could make it more accurate than with paint.

Traconiin on enää 2 yötä, joten minulla on hirveä into pakata kaikki valmiiksi ja lähteä jo. Ohjelmakarttaa olen selaillut sen verran, että tiedän mitä on pakko mennä katsomaan, joten tiedän jo aikatauluni viikonlopulle. Hirveää unirytmin muuttumistakaan ei varmaan tule, koska sekä lauantai- että sunnuntaiaamulla on ohjelmat joita haluan mennä katsomaan. Toivottavasti en ole ensi viikolla ihan hirveän väsynyt töissä. Voisiko huomisen vaan skipata, varsinkin kun se on perjantai 13.

Okay Tracon is in two nights, so I have this huge urge to pack everything ready and go already. I have a plan of what program I’m going to see and hopefully my sleep rhythm doesn't chance so badly because both mornings have interesting programs I want to see. Can I just skip tomorrow, especially because it’s Friday the 13^th.   

Making Nami; Shoes and Log Pose

Koska viikon alussa tajusin Traconin olevan jo ensi viikolla, sain hirvittävän energiapuuskan tehdä Namin osat loppuun. Tällä hetkellä työn alla on enää Clima tact, joten pääsin viikonlopun aikana mukavasti eteenpäin. Ja olen saanut kaikenmaailman askartelusta sekä kuumaliimasta tarpeekseni hetkeen. At the start of the week I realized that Tracon is next week already, so I got a real energy boost to make Nami’s part ready. At the moment I’m only working on Clima tact anymore, so I got forward really nicely this weekend. And I've gotten enough of hot glue and any kind of crafting for a while. "Timantit" piti irrottaa pihdeillä, kun muovi ei katkennut muuten.
I had to remove the "diamonds" with  pliers because the plastic didn't brake any other way.

Käytin kenkien maalaamiseen samaa maalia kuin clima tactiin, mutta tummempana. maalia siis vaalennettiin Clima tactia varten sen jälkeen kun  sain kengät valmiiksi.

For painting the shoes I used the same paint that I used on Clima tact too, but on the shoes it’s a bit darker. I mixed white with it to paint the Clima tact after I was finished with the shoes.

Kangasosat tein tähän cossiin tulevan paidan hihoista. Tai itse asiassa hihasta. Siis tarvitsin vain yhden hihan kankaat. Jouduin ompelemaan kankaat kiinni kenkiin käsin, joten aikaa kului ja niskat olivat jumissa sen jälkeen.

I made the fabric parts from the sleeves of this cosplay’s shirt. Or actually a sleeve. I needed only one sleeve’s fabrics. I had to sew the fabrics on the shoe by hand so it took time and my neck hurts.

Mietin pitkään mistä saisin tehtyä tämän, suht pienen, mutta kuitenkin tärkeän osasen Namille. Koska puuosien tekeminen oikeasta puusta olisi ollut turhan haastavaa ja aikaa vievää, tyydyin cernit –askartelumassaan, josta tein siis kaikki osat paitsi pallon. Pallo taas on joulukuusen koristeeksi tarkoitettu askartelumuovipallo.

I thought a lot of what I am going to make the log pose of. Because making the wooden pieces out of actual wood, would have been too tricky and time taking I decided to use cernit –clay, which I made all the pieces but the ball out of. The ball is plastic ball made for making Christmas tree decorations.

Juuri uunista tulleet osat. Massa siis kovetettiin uunissa.

 Osaset muotoilin siis massasta ja pian muotoilu aloitettuani tajusin, ettei tästä saa millään tasaista. Yritin kuitenkin parhaani ja maalauksen ja kuumaliimojen jälkeen olen aika tyytyväinen tähän.

So I made the pieces out of the clay and soon after I started mould I discovered that it couldn’t be made perfectly even. I tried my best and after painting and hot glue I’m pretty happy with it.

Taas päivittelen blogia sunnuntaina. Kolmas sunnuntai putkeen. Katsotaan, jos saisin ensi viikolla päivitettyä jonain muuna päivänä XD. Tälläkin viikolla olen tuijottanut Greyn anatomiaa dvd:ltä ja pelannut The Sims 2. Olen myös tehnyt Nami-cossia, josta puhun tässä postauksessa.

Again I’m writing on a Sunday. The third Sunday in a row.  I wonder if I can write on a another day next week XD. This week I’ve been watching Grey’s anatomy from dvd and played The Sims 2. I've also been making my cosplay of Nami of which I’m gonna talk about in this post.

Olen tehnyt Namin paitaa ja hametta pitkin viikkoa aina kun inspiraatio on iskenyt ja sain ne jo valmiiksi. Vaikeimmat jutut eli clima tact, lokitikku ja kengät ovat vielä edessä, mutta tässä tulee paidan ja hameen tekovaiheita.

I’ve been making Nami’s shirt and skirt during the week when I get inspired and I’m already finished with them. The harder parts clima tact, log pose and shoes are still to come, but here is the making of the shirt and skirt.

Ostin kummallekin “pohjan” kirpparilta, joten minun ei tarvinnut käydä kangaskaupassa tätä cossia varten. Hame näytti alun perin tältä:

I bought a base for both form  flea market, so I didn't have to go to a fabric store for this cosplay. The  skirt originally looked like this:

 Hame oli alun perin liian iso minulle, joten kavensin sitä. Edessä olevat napit jäävät piiloon paidan helman alle, joten niillä ei ole mitään väliä ovatko ne siinä vai ei.

The skirt was too big for me, so I took it in a little bit. the buttons in the front are gonna be hid under the shirt so they don’t matter.

Hameessa oli myös ”alushame”, alempi ja ohuempi kerros, joka oli ärsyttävän pitkä, koska näkyi helmasta. Lyhensin myös sitä.

The skirt had an ”underskirt”, a inner and sheer layer, which was annoyingly long, because it showed at the hem. So I shortened it.

Sitten lisäsin ympyrät sivuille. Käytin kangasta, jonka olin ostanut edellistä cossiani, Luffya varten, mutta siitä oli jäänyt yli aika paljon. Nytkin käytin vain pienen osan siitä, joten minulla on sitä vieläkin.

Then I added the circles to the sides. I used the fabric I bought for my Luffy-cosplay, because I still had it quite a lot. Even now I used a little bit of it, so I still have it.

Ympyröiden piirtämisessä käytin apuna mukia ja kynäpurkkia, koska en löytänyt harppiani mistään. Onneksi löysin hyvän kokoiset apuvälineet :D. Ympyröiden

ompeleminen oli tuskaa, kun hametta piti kääntää koko ajan. Yksi vaikeimmista jutuista mitä olen ommellut koskaan.

I used a mug and a pot for my pens to draw the circles, because I couldn’t find my compass. Luckily I found the right size equipment for the circles :D. Sewing of the circles was torture, because I had to turn the skirt all the time. One of the hardest things I’ve ever sewn.

Paidankin siis ostin kirppikseltä. Alun perin siinä oli pitkät hihat kuten kuvasta näkee. Hihoista saa kuitenkin kenkiin päällysteet, sen takia paita oli paras löytö Namia varten.

I bought the shirt from flea market too. Originally it had long sleeves as you can see. I can make the covers for the shoes from the sleeves so I consider the shirt my best find for Nami.

 Paita oli myös iso minulle, joten kavensin sitä kyljistä. Hihojen ja kainaloiden kanssa oli myös ongelmaa, koska kainalot olivat tyhmässä kohdassa ja hihat olisivat näyttäneet oudoilta. Jouduin siis siirtämään kainalosauman paikkaa ja se ei ollut hirveän helppoa. Nyt paita kuitenkin näyttää hyvältä.

The shirt was also too big for me, so I took it in from the sides. I had a problem with the sleeves and armpits, because the armpits were in a stupid place and sleeves would have looked odd. I had to move the place of the arm pits and it wasn’t so easy. Now the shirt looks good.

Cosplayplans, DVD's and Frostgate

Tällä viikolla odottelin sunnuntaihin asti, että saan kunnon postauksen aikaiseksi ja nyt juttua tulee sitten paljon, joten varautukaa XD. Tänään tulin siis mökiltä, missä olin kyllä vain viikonlopun tällä kertaa. Viikonloppu menikin käytännössä Sims 2:sen pelaamiseen ja tv-sarjojen tuijotteluun. Tästä lisää alempana.

This week I waited to Sunday to make a proper post. So here comes a lot of text, be prepared XD. Today I came home from our summer place, where we spent the weekend. During this weekend I played Sims 2 and watched some TV-series. More about this, read ahead.

#Frostigate: kun Twitter räjähti pitkästä aikaa

Jos joku Japanin ystävä, coneissakävijä ei vielä tiedä tästä ihmettelen suuresti. Puhun tietenkin siitä, että ensi vuoden Desucon Frostbite tulee olemaan K-18 tapahtuma. Kun suljin maanantai-iltana koneen normaalia aikaisemmin, se tietysti kostautui. Seuraavana päivänä huomasin Twitterin (ja Facebookin) olevan täynnä kaikenmaailman rage- ja vähemmän ragepäivityksistä.

                 Itseänihän Frostbiten K-18 leima ei haittaa, olenhan jo 18. Kuitenkin uutista lukiessani mietin kaikkia niitä 17 –vuotiaita, jotka jäävät tapahtumasta ulos vain muutaman kuukauden takia, mutta ovat kuitenkin aktiivisia manga- ja animeharrastajia. Minuakin harmittaisi, jos en Frostiin pääsisi. Epäilen, että frostin tunnelma tulee silti olemaan kovin aikuinen, koska itse en lue itseäni kovinkaan aikuiseksi, vaikka täysi-ikäinen olenkin.  

                 Toisaalta tämä ikäraja on kokeilu, joten en ymmärrä miksi pitää valittaa niin hirveästi. Niin kuin useimmat jo blogeissaan ja twiiteissään mainitsivat: alaikäiset järjestäkää oma coni!

Here I am talking about that Finland’s manga and anime convention in winter of 2014, Desucon Frostbite will be forbidden form people under the age 18. This is the first time they did this in Finland and in most of Europe. So, you can imagine what kind of rage under aged people had when they heard about it. Whole twitter (and Facebook) full of complaints. Well, I am 18, so I will be there but I can imagine I would be in rage too, if I was 16 or 17.

Hauskinta koko Frostbite-keskustelussa oli mielestäni spekulaatiot siitä, pääseekö maskotti Frosti-chan omaan tapahtumaansa? :D 

Cosplaysuunnitelma Traconiin

*Viimeksi*, kun puhuin tästä, niin olin kahden vaiheilla. Nyt olen päättänyt ja saanut edistystäkin aikaan. Traconiin tuleva uusi cossi on: Nami, One Piece, Water 7 lookissa. Tämä oli siis toinen kahdesta vaihtoehdosta joita pyörittelin ja helpompi niistä. Toista vaihtoehtoani en vielä paljasta, koska teen sen suurella todennäköisyydellä myöhemmin (ehkä frostiin) ja silloin puhun siitä enemmän. Ja kyllä, cossaan taas One Piecesta, anteeksi. XD

*Last time* when I spoke about this, I was choosing between two different characters. Now I’ve decided and made something for it already. The cosplay I’m doing for Tracon, which is in September in the city of Tampere is: Nami, One Piece, Water 7 look. This was the other of my two options and this was also the easier one. I’mm not gonna reveal the second option, because I’ll make the cosplay later (maybe for Frostbite) and then I’ll talk more about it. And yes, I’m cosplaying from One Piece again, sorry. XD

Päätin valita tämän version Namista, koska se ei ole läheskään niin paljastava kuin suurin osa Namin uudemmista lookeista, varsinkin aikahypyn jälkeiset, huh, huh. Haastetta tähän valintaan tulee Clima Tactista. Koska en ole koskaan tehnyt proppeja, niin saa nähdä mitä tulee. Iskä lupasi kuitenkin auttaa sen teossa ja me löydettiinkin jo sopiva tanko sitä varten. Myös lokitikun teko saattaa olla ongelmallista. Olen kuitenkin miettinyt eri vaihtoehtoja siihen ja luultavasti sekin onnistuu. Se on pieni, mutta suht tärkeä osa hahmoa, joten haluan tehdä sen.  

I decided to do this version of Nami because It’s not as revealing as most of  Nami’s newer looks, especially the ones after timeskip, huh. I’m challenging myself in this cosplay with the Clima Tact. I've never made a prop before, so it’s interesting to see what I’ll be able to make. My dad promised to help with it and we already found a pole for it. Also I might have problems with the Log Pose. I've been thinking different option for making it and probably it’s gonna work. It’s a small part of the character but it’s important so I wanna do it.

I bought the clothes and shoes for this cosplay from flea market. I have to modify them pretty much but more about that in a later post. I bought the tie and wig from a Finnish cosplay shop called iroiro, and here are pictures of them:

Maanantaina ostin myös DVD:itä, sekä tilasin niitä myös CDON.comista, joten nyt on taas katsottavaa vähäksi aikaa. Näiden lisäksi olen katsonut Housen ekaa tuotantokautta ja Greyn anatomiaa, joista minulla ei ole kuvia nyt. Housea olen katsonut ennen ekan kauden ostamistakin, mutta pikkusiskoni tutustutti minut Greyn anatomiaan tällä viikolla:

On Monday I bought DVD’s and ordered them from CDON.com also, so now I have things to watch for a while. I have also watched House's first season and Grey's anatomy, which I don't have pictures. I've watched House before buying the first season but my little sister watched Grey's anatomy this week and hooked me too:

Ghibli -leffoja; joista olen aiemmin nähnnyt vain Prinsessa Mononoken, sekä nyt katsonut Tuulen laakson Nausicaän.
Ghibli -movies; When buying these I had seen only Princess Mononoke, and now Nausicaä of the valley of the wind.

Sinkkuelämää 2 leffa, en ollut nähnyt aiemmin, ostin, katsoin, ei yhtä hyvä kuin ykkönen.  Pieni talo preerialla: ikivanha, mutta yksi parhaista sarjoista, joita olen koskaan katsonut. Nyt en ole vielä ehtinyt aloittaa.
Sex and the city 2, haden't seen it before, bought, watched, wasn't as good as the first. Little house on the Prairie: Old as hell, but one of the best series I've ever watched. Now I haven't started yet. 

Lopuksi, uusi An Cafen kappale. Tälle tuli vihdoinkin koko PV.
